99th Infantry Division Association President B.O. Wilkins K/393 and Sergeant-at-Arms Howard Bowers D/394 represented the association Dec. 16, 2008, at a dedication of a monument to the veterans of five countries who participated in the Elsenborn Ridge battle, the north shoulder of the Battle of the Bulge. They were the only American veterans in attendance at the daylong ceremony.

More than six decades after the Battle of the Bulge, some of the remnants of that epic struggle can still be found in the Ardennes Forest in southeastern Belgium near the German border. Belgian "Diggers" who regularly search for the bodies of missing U.S. infantrymen have unearthed a cache of personal and soldierly effects, from spoons and combs to a gas mask.

Col. Rick Nolte stands at attention during a casing of the colors ceremony of the 99th Regional Support Command, which is being relocated under the military's Base Realignment and Closure initiatives to Fort Dix, N.J.

B.O. Wilkins stands next to the 99th Infantry Division statue that has been placed on the front lawn of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh, Pa.
